Natural Geography Geology Baoshan District within the territory of the flat terrain, the base of the rock buried south shallow north deep, bedrock surface tilted from south to north. The rocks have fine to coarse grained unequal grain structure, and the main mineral components are potassium feldspar, plagioclase feldspar, quartz, black mica and hornblende. The thickness of the quaternary layer of the cover is controlled by the ancient topography and is related to the burial depth of the basement rocks. As the area is bordered by the Yangtze River, the five river phase accumulations of the Pleistocene period in Shanghai are well developed in this area, constituting five pressurized aquifers. The main lithology is medium and coarse sand and gravel interspersed with powder and fine sand layer. Luodian, Yanghang and Wusong are located in the mainstream line of the ancient Yangtze River, and Dafang is a marginal area. The depth of the top plate of this layer is generally 170～180 meters, and the center part can be up to 240 meters, which is about 70 meters thick and is the main layer of groundwater exploitation. The second and third layers are buried at a depth of 60 to 160 meters, and have certain mining value. The first layer is 30 to 45 meters deep, generally no mining value. In terms of geological age, the first and second aquifers belong to the Late Pleistocene, and the third, fourth and fifth aquifers belong to the Middle and Lower Pleistocene.
