Furong District, part of Changsha, Hunan Province, is located in the eastern part of the main city of Changsha, and is one of the five districts within Changsha, between longitude 111°53'-114°5' east and latitude 27°51'-28°40' north, with a total area of 42.8 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Furong District has 13 streets under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Furong District had a resident population of 651,100.
Furong District is named after the nickname "Hibiscus Kingdom" in Hunan Province and its location as the political, economic, cultural, commercial and information center of Hunan Province. Furong District is a representative urban area that condenses the development history of Chinese cities and gathers a considerable part of the essence of Changsha's historical and cultural heritage. It is famous for archaeological discoveries such as Mawangdui Han Tomb and Jomalu Brief Documents, and is dotted with historical streets and alleys such as Baonan Street and Duzheng Street, with well-preserved celebrity mansions such as Cheng Qian Mansion and Panshi Shanfang, and with monuments such as Dingwangtai and Hualong Pond that continue to this day.
