As of October 2022, Puyang City has a total jurisdiction of 1 district, 5 counties, 1 industrial park, and 1 economic and technological development zone, with a total area of 4,271 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Puyang City was 3,743,000 people.
Puyang is the northeastern gateway to Henan Province, the Central Plains Economic Zone is an important seaward channel, for the inter-provincial meeting of Yu, Lu and Hebei regional center city; Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Jin-Yu-Ru railroad channel intersects here, Daguang Highway, Puhe Highway, Nanlin Highway, Pu Fan Highway and other high-speed throughout the territory. Puyang is a national historical and cultural city, known as "Zhuanxu legacy of the capital, the hometown of Emperor Shun", was named by the China Ancient Capitals Society "Chinese Imperial Capital"; acrobatic culture is renowned both at home and abroad, is the "Hometown of Chinese Acrobatics Acrobatic culture is famous in China and abroad, and Puyang is the "Hometown of Chinese Acrobatics".
In 2013, Puyang City was awarded the title of "National Civilized City". 2022 February 8, Puyang City was re-confirmed as a "national health city" through the review. On April 26th of the same year, Puyang City was awarded the title of "Excellent" Provincial Municipality of Rule of Law Henan (Rule of Law Government) Construction in 2021, and in 2023, Puyang City was awarded the title of "National Civilized City".
In 2023, Puyang's GDP amounted to 185.06 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8% year-on-year.
