Pingba District, part of Anshun City, Guizhou Province. Located in the central part of Guizhou Province, north of Bijie City, Zhijin County, east of the provincial capital of Guiyang, west of Xixiu District, according to the seventh census data, as of zero hour on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Pingba District is 347,060 people. With an area of 999 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 7 towns, 2 townships and 2 streets (including Summit Township and Mafang Township, which are hosted to Gui'an New Area), and the government is stationed at Zhongshan South Road, Anping Street. Pingba is a national new area of Gui'an New Area core component, accounting for 51% of the Gui'an New Area planning area of 1,795 square kilometers.
Pingba District is named after "a lot of flat land". The Hukun Expressway, Xialong Expressway, Hukun High-speed Railway and other national transportation arteries cross the whole area, and it is an important transportation hub in Guizhou Province and even Southwest China, known as the "Western Golden Corridor, Qianzhong Cultural Corridor". It is in the typical area of China's karst landscape, with beautiful natural scenery and simple folk customs, mainly Han Chinese, as well as Hui, Yi, Bai, Buyi, Zhuang and Miao minorities. Pingba is known as the "Hometown of China's Tunbao Culture", "Hometown of China's Halal Cuisine", and "Hometown of China's Folk Culture and Art" (calligraphy and painting, Tunbao local opera).
On September 25, 2018, the People's Government of Guizhou Province issued a circular stating that it agreed that Pingba District and other 14 counties (districts) should withdraw from the poverty counties.In 2020, the gross domestic product of Pingba District as a whole was completed at 13.57 billion yuan, with a growth rate of -0.3% year-on-year.
