The Kuitun-Dushanzi Economic and Technological Development Zone in Xinjiang is a national-level economic and technological development zone formed through the merger of the Kuitun Economic and Technological Development Zone (established in 1992) and the Kuitun-Dushanzi Petrochemical Industrial Park (established in 2006). It was successfully upgraded to a national-level development zone in April 2011.In February 2012, it was designated a “National Demonstration Base for New Industrialization” by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It has subsequently been designated by the autonomous region as a key chemical industry base, cotton textile base, solar energy manufacturing base, and a pilot zone for the integration of informatization and industrialization.
