The Youxian Economic Development Zone is a key driver of economic growth in Youxian District. It is located in the core area of China (Mianyang) Science and Technology City, within the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the Chengdu-Deyang-Mianyang High-Tech Industrial Belt.The Youxian Economic Development Zone (at the county-level) was established in May 2010 with the approval of the Mianyang Municipal People’s Government. In December 2012, it was designated as a provincial-level circular economy demonstration zone by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and in April 2013, it was approved as a provincial-level development zone by the Provincial Government.In June 2013, it was included in Sichuan Province’s “51025” list of key industrial parks for cultivation. In September 2013, the Baohe Fushan Renewable Resources Industrial Park within the zone was officially approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance as the fourth batch of national “Urban Mines” demonstration bases.
In 2013, the Youxian Economic Development Zone (including the South, North, and East Districts) achieved a total operating revenue of 22.6 billion yuan from industrial enterprises; a total industrial output value of 22.1 billion yuan; cumulative fixed-asset investment of 8.798 billion yuan, of which 2.75 billion yuan was invested in enterprise technological upgrades; industrial enterprises generated 2.2 billion yuan in profits and taxes; and the total number of employees at year-end was 54,811.
