The Luzhou High-Tech Zone in Sichuan Province was formerly known as the Luzhou Economic Development Zone, established in 1993. In September 2013, it was upgraded to a provincial-level high-tech industrial park with the approval of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, and in February 2015, it was upgraded to a national high-tech industrial development zone with the approval of the State Council.
The total planned area of Luzhou High-Tech Zone is 202 square kilometers, comprising the 4.62-square-kilometer Longmatan core area, the 176.08-square-kilometer Jiangyang-Naxi area, and the 21.3-square-kilometer Luxian area.Guided by the philosophy of “technology-led, one zone with multiple parks, and integrated industry and city development,” the zone has formed a “one core, two wings, and four parks” structure. The “one core” refers to the Luzhou High-Tech Zone Science and Technology R&D Center; the “two wings” refer to the Jiangyang District and Luxian County sub-zones; and the “four parks” refer to the subordinate Mechanical Equipment Industrial Park, New Energy and New Materials Industrial Park, Luzhou High-Tech Zone Pharmaceutical Industrial Park, and Wine Industry Development and Innovation Park.
Luzhou High-Tech Zone is home to the National High-Performance Hydraulic Components High-Tech Industrialization Base and one of the nation’s first hydraulic industry bases. It focuses on the development of construction machinery such as engineering cranes and hydraulic excavators, as well as the “three fundamentals” industry, automotive parts, petrochemical equipment, energy-saving and environmental protection equipment, and intelligent equipment. Its development goal is to become a high-end equipment manufacturing industrial base in Western China.
