Situated midway between Zhongjiang and Jintang county seats, it forms a strategic triangle with Jintang’s urban area and Huizhou New Town, giving it a distinct locational advantage.Following the emergence of the Chengdu Eastern New Area, Kaizhou New Town has once again become a collaborative development zone within the Chengdu Eastern New Area and serves as one of the primary vehicles for the integrated development of Chengdu, Deyang, Meishan, and Ziyang.
Kaizhou New Town was previously one of Zhongjiang’s main industrial bases and a key area for Deyang’s eastward industrial expansion. Even before the concept of Kaizhou New Town was introduced, industrial parks in Xinglong, Jiqing, and other areas were already being gradually developed; although not yet fully mature, the groundwork had already been laid.At the same time, the transportation infrastructure surrounding Kaizhou New Town is currently being further improved. The Chengdu-Baoding Expressway, National Highway 245, and the Zhongjin Expressway all traverse the heart of this region, ensuring very close connections with Deyang and Chengdu.
In terms of rail transit, in the near or medium to long term, the Chengdu-Santai Intercity Railway, Chengdu Suburban Railway Line S1, and the branch line of Chengdu Suburban Railway Line S2 may also pass through Kaizhou New Town in the future.Based on current developments, Zhongjiang County’s future rail transit infrastructure will rank second only to Jingyang District and Guanghan City within Deyang, surpassing Shifang, Mianzhu, and Luojiang. This marks a first in the history of Zhongjiang County’s transportation development.
