The Sanmenxia Urban-Rural Integration Demonstration Zone is one of 16 such zones planned and developed across the province in accordance with the "Implementation Opinions on Building Urban-Rural Integration Demonstration Zones" issued by the Henan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Henan Provincial People's Government. Located in the southwestern part of the central urban area of Sanmenxia—a central city in the Henan-Shanxi-Shaanxi Golden Triangle region, situated on the banks of the Yellow River and known as the "City of Swans"—the zone covers a planned area of 160 square kilometers. It encompasses the Sanmenxia Industrial Cluster Zone and the three towns of Daying, Dawang, and Yangdian, with a total population of approximately 240,000.
