The Shangqiu Economic and Technological Development Zone is located east of downtown Shangqiu. Established in 1995 with approval from the Henan Provincial Government, it was among the first batch of development zones to pass the review by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2005. The zone covers a total area of 66 square kilometers, with a built-up area of 9.45 square kilometers, and comprises two subdistrict offices: Pingtai and Ping’an.Since its official launch in 2001, the Development Zone has adhered to the guiding principle of “prioritizing industrial projects, export earnings, and foreign investment, while dedicating efforts to the development of high-tech industries.” It has attracted more than 200 projects of various types, with all economic indicators maintaining a growth rate of over 20%.Currently, the Economic and Technological Development Zone has seen rapid growth in economic strength, with supporting facilities becoming increasingly comprehensive. Significant achievements have been made in investment promotion, and the urban landscape has been greatly transformed. It has become a new economic growth point, a base for processing and manufacturing, and a modern new urban area in Shangqiu City.
