The Nanyang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone was established in March 1995 with the approval of the Henan Provincial Government; in 2005, it successfully passed the review conducted by five ministries and commissions, including the National Development and Reform Commission, and was included in the National Development Zone Directory; in September 2010, it was upgraded to a national-level high-tech industrial development zone with the approval of the State Council.It currently administers two sub-districts—Zhang Heng and Bailixi—and one industrial park within an industrial cluster zone, comprising a total of 14 communities and 4 administrative villages, with a total population of approximately 160,000.
Since its establishment, Nanyang High-Tech Zone has adhered to the guiding principle of “developing high-tech and achieving industrialization.” It has established a “one zone, multiple parks” development model, vigorously cultivated distinctive high-tech industrial clusters, strengthened the construction of a science and technology innovation system, continuously optimized the development environment, and promoted the coordinated development of social undertakings. The zone has gradually established an industrial system dominated by optoelectronics and equipment manufacturing. With increasingly improved infrastructure, accelerating economic growth, and steadily growing comprehensive competitiveness, it has become a vital engine for regional economic development in Nanyang and a window for opening up to the outside world.Nanyang High-Tech Zone is a National Optoelectronics High-Tech Industrialization Base, one of Henan Province’s first Innovative Industrial Agglomeration Zones (pilot), and a provincial-level specialized industry for explosion-proof products.
