The Zhangye Economic and Technological Development Zone is located in Ganzhou District, Zhangye City. Established in 1994, it was upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone in March 2013 with the approval of the State Council. The zone has a total planned area of 93.37 square kilometers, with a built-up area of approximately 30 square kilometers.It has now formed a “one zone, multiple parks” development model comprising the Eco-Technology Industrial Park, the Circular Economy Demonstration Park, the Agricultural Products Industrial Park, the Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park, the Big Data Industrial Park, and the Coal Chemical Industry Park.
The Zhangye Economic and Technological Development Zone currently hosts 693 enterprises, including 241 industrial enterprises, 51 industrial enterprises above designated size, and 28 high-tech enterprises. The total population within the zone is 58,000, with 41,200 employees working in these enterprises.The zone has developed an agricultural and sideline products processing industry led by enterprises such as Charoen Pokphand Group, Aolinbel, and Jinnan Guao High-Tech; a biopharmaceutical and chemical industry led by enterprises such as Hexi Pharmaceutical, Dagong Agrochemicals, and Guangtai Pharmaceutical; a non-ferrous metallurgy and new materials industry led by enterprises such as Qilian Mountain Cement, Julong Ferroalloy, and Longxiang Building Materials;a new energy and equipment manufacturing sector led by enterprises such as Zhangye Thermal Power, Huaxi New Energy, and Yuyu Machinery; a modern service sector led by enterprises such as Xinle Distribution, Jiean Logistics, and Taixin Logistics; and an advanced manufacturing sector led by enterprises such as Yunduan Technology.
The Zhangye Economic and Technological Development Zone has been successively designated as a UNIDO Green Industrial Park, a National Demonstration Pilot Zone for Circular Economy Transformation, a National Demonstration Base for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of Small and Micro Enterprises, and a National-level Maker Space. It has been designated by Gansu Province as a Provincial Circular Economy Demonstration Park, a Demonstration Base for New Industrialization, a Demonstration Base for Agricultural Industrialization, a Provincial SME Incubation Base, and a Provincial Demonstration Base for Entrepreneurship and Employment Incubation; it has been recognized as one of the province’s top ten development zones and an advanced park for investment promotion;It has been recognized as a Provincial High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.
The Eco-Technology Industrial Park covers a planned area of 13.35 square kilometers (including 7.6 square kilometers in the nationally approved zone) and is located in the northeastern suburbs of Ganzhou District. It primarily focuses on developing high-tech industries and agricultural by-product processing, with a focus on Class I industrial projects.The park has constructed nearly 200,000 square meters of standardized factory buildings, 10,000 square meters of startup office space, 9,400 square meters of expert apartments, and 38,000 square meters of technology incubation buildings. Supporting infrastructure—including roads, water supply, power, sewage, natural gas, and telecommunications—has been fully developed, with a green coverage rate exceeding 35%. A number of key enterprises, such as Hexi Pharmaceutical, Aolinbel, Huarui Malt, Guangtai Herbal Medicine, and Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals, have already established operations here, making it a region with a high concentration of projects.
