The Xiamen Tong'an Industrial Park is a comprehensive industrial base comprising four sub-parks: Siming Industrial Park, Huli Industrial Park, Tong'an Industrial Park, and Torch Industrial Park. It focuses primarily on developing labor- and technology-intensive industries that align with industrial policy, such as mechanical electronics, apparel and footwear, leather and chemical fibers, non-ferrous metals, sports equipment, and plastic products.
The park is large-scale, with a total planned area of approximately 12 square kilometers and an actual developable area of 7.88 square kilometers. The developed area is expected to accommodate a workforce of 60,000 to 80,000 people.As of May 2007, the Tong’an Industrial Concentration Zone had completed 318 standard industrial buildings totaling nearly 3 million square meters, attracted over 500 enterprises, and completed the “Golden Border” project covering over 300,000 square meters, with the entire zone having taken shape.
To swiftly address the livelihood issues of displaced farmers, the Tong’an Industrial Concentration Zone implemented the innovative “Gold-Enveloping-Silver” project concurrently during its construction.This project involves 7 administrative villages and 31 natural villages, with a total population of approximately 20,000. The entire “Gold-Enveloping-Silver” project covers a planned area of 379.22 hectares, with 350,000 square meters allocated for the “Golden Edge” zone. The total floor area is 750,000 square meters, providing 240,000 square meters of retail space and 510,000 square meters of residential apartments.
Furthermore, the integrated development of the Tong’an Industrial Zone has improved land utilization rates, facilitated the clustering of competitive industries, and enhanced the quality of investment attraction. A large number of industrial enterprises above a certain scale that were originally located on the island have successively relocated, resulting in a fundamental shift in Xiamen’s industrial layout. Tong’an has now become the industrial development zone with the greatest potential.
