The Fujian Fuan Economic Development Zone was established in May 1988 with the approval of the Ningde Prefectural Administrative Office. In 1998, it was designated as a provincial-level economic development zone by the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, and in 2006, it was renamed the Fujian Fuan Economic Development Zone. The zone covers a planned area of 83 square kilometers and comprises 8 administrative villages and 1 community, with a registered population of 20,797.
Located midway between the coastal open cities of Wenzhou and Fuzhou, the development zone serves as the geographical center of the Ningde Prefecture and a key water and land transportation hub in Eastern Fujian. It boasts a superior geographical location and distinct locational advantages.The Coastal Expressway and the under-construction Fuzhou-Wenzhou Railway pass through the zone. Saiqi Port, renowned as the “Golden Waterway,” serves as the central port of Eastern Fujian. With a coastline stretching 68.5 kilometers, the port’s phased development allows for the construction of over 50 berths capable of handling vessels ranging from 300 to 3,000 tons. Currently, more than 20 such berths have been completed, and the port’s annual throughput ranks among the highest in the province.Furthermore, the development zone boasts excellent natural conditions, abundant mountain and marine resources, and a vast economic hinterland, offering a favorable investment environment.
