The Sanming High-Tech Development Zone is one of five provincial-level high-tech zones and a key joint development project between Sanming City and Shaxian District. The Yingxiu Railway, National Highway 205, and the Shaxi Waterway—a tributary of the Min River—run along the perimeter of the zone; the Sanming connector of the Beijing-Fuzhou Expressway features an interchange on the western side of the zone; the Sanming-Shaxian Airport, currently under construction, is located 3 kilometers from the zone; and 300-ton cargo ships can sail directly to Fuzhou’s Mawei Port.The development of the park will leverage the political, economic, and cultural advantages of downtown Sanming, the strengths of Sanming’s traditional industrial base, and the geographical, land, and environmental advantages of Shaxian District. It is planned to be developed into a high-tech industrial cluster and a prosperous, civilized new urban area that integrates industry, commerce, warehousing, finance, and residential functions.The industrial development plan identifies opto-mechatronics, new materials, bioengineering, and the food industry as the primary directions for high-tech industrial growth. The planned total land area is 18 square kilometers, with a total investment of approximately 2 billion yuan for the “five utilities and one leveling” infrastructure development.
