Established in 1998, the Fujian Changtai Economic Development Zone is one of the first batch of provincial-level development zones approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, as well as one of the 11 provincial-level key development zones in Zhangzhou City. It covers a total area of 22 square kilometers, with 12 square kilometers designated for industrial development.
The development zone is situated at the “Eastern Gateway” of Changtai District, 3 kilometers from the district center and 22 kilometers south of downtown Zhangzhou. The Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway features one exit and one service area here, and the distance from the Tianzhu Mountain Interchange to Haicang, Xiamen, is only 28 kilometers.As of April 2024, 236 industrial enterprises have registered and established operations in the zone, including 114 foreign-invested enterprises and 122 domestically-invested enterprises. Currently, 173 industrial enterprises are in production, with 84 classified as large-scale enterprises. The zone has preliminarily established three major pillar industries: sporting goods, optoelectronic lighting, and machinery manufacturing. It employs 31,000 people and has become a significant growth engine for Changtai’s industrial economic development.
