Nankai Alumni Association is a long-standing organization, which dates back to the early period of Nankai School, when Nankai alumni from various places spontaneously organized the schoolmates associations to keep connections between themselves and with their Alma Mater. At the end of 1928, Tianjin Nankai alumni took the lead in establishing Tianjin alumni sub-association, and then the alumni sub-associations were set up one after another in Shanghai, Beijing, Qingdao, and Liaoning. To strengthen the ties and coordination between the alumni organizations in China and abroad, and gather the forces of numerous alumni, Nankai Alumni Association was established formally in Tianjin in October 1929.

After its establishment, the alumni association actively developed activities, and successively launched the “movement of loving the school, respecting teachers, and helping schoolmates” and the “movement of assisting the development of the Alma Mater”, under the enthusiastic participation of the broad alumni in these activities, which powerfully promoted the development of Nankai undertakings and the post-war restoration of the school work.

After the 1950s, the activities of Nankai Alumni Association discontinued for historical reasons known to all.

After the third plenary session of the 11th Central Committee of the CPC, the reform and opening situation developed satisfactorily, and all the neglected tasks were being undertaken. It became an imperative demand of the broad alumni to restore the alumni association. Through the efforts made in many ways, Nankai Alumni Association was eventually restored in October 1979.

Over the years, Nankai Alumni Association, as the bridge and tie of maintaining connections with broad alumni, has played an active part in uniting the alumni, developing alumni resources, promoting the undertakings of the Alma Mater, and spreading the influence of Nankai University.

The standing setup of Nankai Alumni Association is located in Nankai University, on the east side of the horseshoe lake, where pink lotuses and green willows are growing. As the home of alumni, Nankai Alumni Association warmly welcomes the alumni to return to Nankai honorably to chitchat with each other about their friendly sentiments.
