Minfeng County, belonging to Hotan Region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the northern foothills of the Kunlun Mountains, between longitude 82°22'~85°55'E and latitude 35°20'~39°29'N. The county is a part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located at the southern edge of the Taklamakan Desert. It is close to the east of Zhimo County, west of Yutian County, south of Kunlun Mountain and Tibet Rezhe County, and north of Shaya County of Aksu Region. There are five rivers in Minfeng County, including the Niya River, the Qizhikhan River, the Yeyik River, the Yatonggus River and the Andir River. In October 2017, Minfeng County passed the national special assessment and inspection and was officially approved by the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to withdraw from the poverty-stricken county.
