The Laizhou Economic Development Zone is located on the shores of Laizhou Bay in the northwestern part of the Jiaodong Peninsula. In December 1992, it was approved as a provincial-level development zone by the People’s Government of Shandong Province. In 2007, it was designated a “Model Zone for Scientific Development” by the Shandong Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and an “Advanced Zone for Opening Up” by the People’s Government of Shandong Province. The zone covers an area of 99 square kilometers.Situated in the mid-latitude monsoon zone, the climate is mild, with warm winters and cool summers. The annual average temperature is 12°C, with extreme highs of 35°C and lows of -10°C. Relative humidity averages 64%, annual precipitation is 700 mm, and the frost-free period lasts up to 250 days. Air quality is rated as good or better. The terrain within the zone is flat, the geological structure is stable, and the natural bearing capacity of the soil ranges from 15 to 28 tons.
