Park Overview
The Lanshan Development Zone has attracted 37 foreign-invested enterprises, including four Fortune 500 companies that have established operations there. The total contracted foreign investment amounts to $56.52 million, with actual foreign investment reaching $32.21 million.Its key enterprises include: Rizhao Sanmu Group Co., Ltd., Shandong Lusheng Electric Power Equipment Co., Ltd., Shandong Changhua Group, Shandong Fenghua Food Co., Ltd., and Rizhao Lanxing Chemical Co., Ltd., among others. The zone has preliminarily established pillar industries such as wooden furniture, liquid chemical storage and transportation, marine biomimetic food, and electric power equipment. Moving forward, the zone will prioritize the development of biopharmaceuticals, marine chemicals, electronic software, and processed seafood.In 2002, the district achieved a total industrial output value of 890 million yuan, an industrial value-added of 260 million yuan, fiscal revenue of 58 million yuan, and exports of 67 million yuan. Lanshan has a planned urban area of 85 square kilometers, with a current built-up area of 20 square kilometers. It has formed an urban development pattern centered on Aye Mountain, featuring a “One Ring, Six Zones” layout that is coastal, well-planned, and functionally complete.Infrastructure such as power supply, water supply, telecommunications, and transportation is well-developed, and social sectors including culture, education, and healthcare are developing rapidly.It is home to the nation’s largest liquid chemical terminal, the nation’s largest seafood trading markets—the Antongwei Seafood City and the Lanshan Tou Fresh Seafood City—the nation’s largest dried shrimp and squid processing base, and the largest timber distribution hub and fishing net market in northern Jiangsu. Currently, two zones and one park have been established: the Coastal Tourism Resort, the Lanshan Export Processing Zone, and the Lanshan Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park.
The Lanshan Economic Development Zone was originally named the Lanshan Export-Oriented Industrial Park. It was established in 1994 with the approval of the provincial government, renamed the Lanshan Economic Development Zone in 2002 with provincial government approval, and in 2005, passed the review of the National Development and Reform Commission, becoming one of the first provincial-level economic development zones approved and announced in the province.Since the city launched the “Breakthrough in Industrial Parks, Focus on Investment Promotion” campaign, to meet the development needs of the Lanshan Economic Development Zone, and with the consent of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government and approval from the Provincial Institutional Reform Office, the management structure of the Lanshan Economic Development Zone has been further streamlined. It has been reorganized from co-locating with the Lanshan District Party Committee and District Government to operating as a separate entity. It functions as a delegated agency of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, administered by the Lanshan District Party Committee and District Government.The leadership team consists of one director and five deputy directors, and the Development Zone comprises six internal departments: the General Office, the Economic Development Bureau, the Construction Bureau, the Investment Promotion Bureau, the Investment Service Center, and the Talent and Entrepreneurship Service Center, with a total authorized staff of 43.In November 2016, the Provincial Government formally approved the adjustment of the Lanshan Economic Development Zone’s boundaries and functions, with its southern boundary extending to Aye Mountain North Road, Huanghai Road, the planned Park Road, and Provincial Highway 342; its western boundary to the planned West Outer Ring Road; and its northern boundary to Shugang Avenue in Taoluo Town and the planned North Outer Ring Road. The actual area under its administration is 95.8 square kilometers.
