The China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone covers the entire territory of Qingdao and is being developed according to a layout of “1 core zone + N linked zones.” The core zone is located in Jiaozhou, covering a total area of 61.1 square kilometers, which includes the 36.7-square-kilometer Jiaozhou Economic and Technological Development Zone and the 24.4-square-kilometer conceptual planning new district.
The establishment of the “China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone” represents a new economic and trade achievement resulting from the SCO Qingdao Summit. It is also a mission, responsibility, and commitment for Qingdao, marking a new chapter in the city’s deep integration into the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the expansion and enhancement of local economic and trade cooperation with SCO member states, and the construction of a new pattern of comprehensive opening-up in the new era.
