Yinchuan City, abbreviated as "Yin", anciently known as "Xingqingfu", also known as "Phoenix City", is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the capital, and an important city in Northwest China, as determined by the State Council. It is the capital city of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and the important center city of Northwest China as approved by the State Council. As of 2022, the city has three districts, two counties and one county-level city under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 9,025.38 square kilometers, a built-up area of 1,960.05 square kilometers, a resident population of 2,896,800 people, an urban population of 2,367,800 people, and an urbanization rate of 81.74%. Yinchuan City is located in the northwest of China, in the middle of Ningxia Plain, between latitude 37°29′~38°53′ north, longitude 105°49′~106°53′ east, east of the western edge of Ordos, west of the Helan Mountains, the Yellow River passes through the city. The terrain is divided into two major parts: mountainous and plain, with a temperate continental climate. Yinchuan is the ancient Silk Road business town, Ningxia's military, political, economic, cultural, scientific research, transportation and financial center, Ningxia, Mongolia, Shaanxi and Gansu adjacent areas, the core city along the Yellow River City Cluster, the core of the economic corridor between China, Mongolia and Russia, the New Asia-Europe Continental Bridge, is the window of the country's opening to the west. Yinchuan's comprehensive urban competitiveness is among the top 100 cities in China, and it has been awarded the titles of National Civilized City, National Water-saving City, National Hygienic City, National Garden City, National Environmental Protection Model City, and China Habitat Environment Paradigm Prize, and was named one of the "Top Ten New Heavenly Capitals of China".In October 2018, it was awarded one of the first batch of "International Wetland Cities" in the world. In October 2018, it was honored as one of the world's first "International Wetland Cities"; in 2018, it was reconfirmed as a national sanitary city; and in October 2020, it was honored as a national model city (county) for double embracing. In 2023, the gross regional product of Yinchuan City will be 268.563 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2% over the previous year at constant prices. In terms of industries, the added value of primary industry is 9.947 billion yuan, an increase of 8.2% over the previous year; the added value of secondary industry is 130.290 billion yuan, an increase of 10.1%; the added value of tertiary industry is 128.326 billion yuan, an increase of 4.6%.
