Park Overview
The Shenyang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, formerly known as the Shenyang Hunnan New District, was established in May 1988. In 1991, it was among the first batch of zones approved by the State Council as a National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone and is one of the many development zones receiving key support from the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Shenyang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (formerly the Shenyang Nanhu Science and Technology Development Zone, abbreviated as Shenyang High-Tech Zone) is one of the first National High-Tech Industrial Development Zones approved by the State Council, and one of the five national comprehensive reform pilot zones designated by the State Science and Technology Commission and the State Economic System Reform Commission. The High-Tech Zone is located in the southern part of Shenyang’s central urban area, covering a total area of 32 square kilometers. The overall planning and layout of the High-Tech Zone focuses on the development of “One City” (Science and Technology Mall), “Two Zones” (Nanta Industrial Pilot Zone and Hunnan Industrial Zone), and “Three Parks” (University Park, Private Enterprise Park, and National Science and Technology Park). It prioritizes supporting the industrialization of high-tech fields such as electronics and information technology, opto-mechanical-electrical integration, new materials, bioengineering, and energy conservation and environmental protection, with the goal of transforming the High-Tech Zone into the “Silicon Valley” of Northern China.
The National Shenyang Cross-Strait Science and Technology Industrial Park, approved by the State Council, is one of the first “parks within a park” established within a high-tech industrial development zone nationwide. The Science and Technology Park will vigorously promote economic exchange and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait to foster mutual economic prosperity, and it is poised to become a shining new star in Shenyang’s future development.
