Park Overview
The Jiujiang Export Processing Zone in Jiangxi is located in the northeastern part of the Comprehensive Industrial Park within the Jiujiang Economic and Technological Development Zone. It is 9 kilometers from downtown Jiujiang, 15 kilometers from the Jiujiang Foreign Trade Wharf, 100 kilometers from Changbei International Airport, and 14 kilometers from Jiujiang Airport. On June 3, 2005, with the approval of the State Council, the “Jiujiang Export Processing Zone in Jiangxi” was officially established; it is currently the only export processing zone in Jiangxi Province.
The Jiujiang Export Processing Zone has a planned area of 2.81 square kilometers, bounded by Bai Ma Ling to the east, the Changjiu Expressway to the west, Shuangrui Road to the south, and Pengtang Bay to the north.
Jiujiang boasts 152 kilometers of prime Yangtze River waterfront. It was one of the first seven Class I Yangtze River import-export cargo ports opened by the state following the reform and opening-up policy, as well as one of the first five cities along the Yangtze River to be opened to foreign trade. Currently, it conducts trade with more than 70 countries and regions across five continents. In 2004, actual utilization of foreign capital reached $308.08 million, and foreign trade exports exceeded $80 million; the growth rates for both foreign capital utilization and foreign trade exports ranked second among the eight prefecture-level cities along the Yangtze River.
Jiujiang’s riverside population stands at 1.94 million, accounting for 42.5% of the city’s total population, yet it contributes 71% of the city’s GDP, with per capita GDP reaching 1.66 times the citywide average. Over the past three years, the riverside industrial sector has maintained robust growth, driving the city’s economic development. In 2004, industrial value-added increased by 33% year-on-year, sales revenue rose by 47%, and profits and taxes grew by 40%, with all three indicators doubling over the three-year period.
As Jiangxi’s only open port along the Yangtze River, Jiujiang has always been a strategic priority for the provincial Party committee and government. During an inspection tour in Jiujiang, Provincial Party Secretary Meng Jianzhu emphasized that Jiujiang must fully leverage the advantages of its open river port to develop into Jiangxi’s import-export transit hub.
The Export Processing Zone features comprehensive infrastructure, with nearby living and service facilities available outside the zone. The zone houses customs, commodity inspection, banking, warehousing, and transportation agencies, allowing enterprises to complete all import and export procedures without leaving the premises. The zone’s customs office implements a “single declaration, single document review, and single inspection” process, ensuring simple and efficient customs clearance with 24-hour service. The Export Processing Zone offers preferential tax policies and high-quality, efficient services.
