The Suqian Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in November 1998 and was upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone in January 2013 with the approval of the State Council. It currently administers one township and three subdistricts, with a planned area of 48.51 square kilometers, an administrative area of 119.94 square kilometers, and a permanent population of 200,000.It has successively been designated as a “National Food Industry Park,” “China Home Appliance Industry Base,” and “Jiangsu Province Advanced Manufacturing Base,” and has been named “China’s Best Investment Environment Development Zone.” It serves as the city’s primary hub for policy, capital, technology, and talent, as well as a key component of Suqian’s central urban area and a modern “Southern New City.”
Since its establishment, the Suqian Economic and Technological Development Zone has prioritized industry as its foundation, enterprises as its core, and industrial development as its focus. By making every effort to attract and cultivate large-scale, high-quality enterprises, it has formed a distinctive “3+1” industrial system comprising photovoltaic new energy, green food, smart home appliances, and new electronic information. It has become an emerging industrial manufacturing base in Jiangsu and the Yangtze River Delta region.In recent years, the Development Zone has unwaveringly adhered to the principle of “projects first.” Billion-yuan-scale projects such as Trina Solar, Longheng New Energy, and Canadian Solar have arrived one after another. The “3+1” distinctive industrial system has taken shape and possesses strong momentum for future growth. Economic and social development has shown a robust upward trend, with growth rates of key economic indicators leading the city for consecutive years.
