The Zhenjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone (Zhenjiang New District) is located in the eastern part of Zhenjiang City. It was formally established in June 1998 through the merger of the Zhenjiang Economic Development Zone (established in 1992) and the Zhenjiang Dagang Economic Development Zone (established in 1993). In April 2010, it was upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone.It administers two subdistricts—Dingmao and Dagang—and three towns—Dinggang, Dalu, and Yaoqiao. With a total area of 218.9 square kilometers, the zone is home to a population of over 300,000. It currently hosts six national-level platforms, including the National University Science and Technology Park, the National Zhenjiang High-Tech Entrepreneurship Service Center, the China Zhenjiang Overseas Returnees Entrepreneurship Park, the National Optoelectronics and Communication Components Industrial Base, the China Zhenjiang Export Processing Zone, and the National Yangtze River Green Chemical Industry Base.
