Guided by the overarching principle of “boosting industry through the port, revitalizing the city through industry, and fostering synergy between the port and the city,” the New District is actively advancing the development of the “One City, Five Centers” initiative (namely, the Seaport New City, Modern Industry and Trade Center, Ecological Tourism Center, Port Logistics Center, Fishery Distribution Center, and Modern Agriculture Center). The planned development area spans 35 square kilometers. The first phase, covering 12 square kilometers, has achieved “eight utilities and one leveling,” while the second phase has reached “five utilities and one leveling.” The zone features a rational spatial layout, comprehensive functional facilities, a robust industrial foundation, and a concentration of production factors.Currently, Fortune 500 companies such as Tyson Foods (U.S.) and a number of central state-owned enterprises, including PetroChina, have successfully established operations here. Major port-related industries such as Yanda Heavy Industry, Yuanwei Heavy Industry, and Tongguang Submarine Cable have followed suit, gradually forming seven major industrial sectors: new energy, new materials, electronic information, modern high-end equipment, energy conservation and environmental protection, electromechanical, green food, and modern services.
