Major projects are driving the region’s rise.Located on the right bank of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal (Huai’an section), Huangma Port has a total investment of 1.77 billion yuan. Covering an area of 80.66 hectares with a total berth length of 2,207 meters, the project will construct 29 1,000-ton-class loading and unloading berths, along with supporting facilities including terminal handling works, hydraulic structures, rear road and storage yards, and production and auxiliary buildings.Since construction began in April 2022, the terminal project has reached 54% completion. The shore-type berths, the bottom slab of the dredged basin, and the concrete platform for the Yihai Kerry dedicated terminal have all been completed. Construction of the retaining walls at the terminal’s foreshore is nearing completion, and construction of the storage yard is about to begin. The project is expected to be fully completed by June 2024.The Huangma Port Upgrade Project is a major provincial initiative with a total investment of 5 billion yuan. In addition to the Huangma Operations Area terminal project within the Huai’an Port urban district, sub-projects such as the Huai’an Smart Logistics Port, the National Grain Reserve Warehouse, and the sewage treatment plant, as well as supporting infrastructure projects in the core area, are also proceeding at full speed. To unleash the “golden effect” of the “golden waterway,” Qingjiangpu District is leveraging the Huangma Port Upgrade Project and the Yihai Kerry Food Industrial Park—two major provincial projects—is planning and constructing a 10-square-kilometer Port-adjacent New City. Focusing on industries such as port logistics and food processing, the district aims to build a food processing and grain storage and transportation hub in the northern Yangtze River Delta. By precisely targeting and attracting related enterprises, Qingjiangpu is facilitating the implementation of projects such as the Phase II of Suyan Jingshen, the Suliang Yijia Grain Storage Facility, and the Zengli Commerce and Trade Smart Warehousing and Repackaging Park. These efforts will provide strong support for establishing a key growth engine for the economic and social development of Qingjiangpu District and the city as a whole.
