Suzhou, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, a megacity, is located in East China, the southeast of Jiangsu Province, the south bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the east bank of Lake Taihu, located in the Yangtze River delta plains and the Taihu Lake plains area, the entire terrain is low and flat; it belongs to the subtropical monsoon oceanic climate, with four distinct seasons, a mild climate, and abundant rainfall; it has a total area of 8,657.32 square kilometers. Suzhou City was founded in 514 BC, with a history of more than 2,500 years. In 589 A.D., Emperor Wen of Sui changed "Wu County" to "Suzhou" by taking the name of Gusu Mountain. Suzhou is an important city in Shanghai Metropolitan Area and Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Metropolitan Area, one of the important central cities in the Yangtze River Delta as approved by the State Council, a national high-tech industrial base and a scenic tourist city.
