The Fengrun Economic Development Zone in Hebei was established in July 2011 and is a provincial-level development zone.In February 2017, in accordance with provincial and municipal requirements, the development zone merged with the Tangshan Fengrun China High-Speed Rail City (established in 2009) and the Northern Modern Logistics City (established in 2010). The planned area was 52.17 square kilometers. In January 2021, the provincial government approved an expansion of 2.06 square kilometers, bringing the total planned area to 54.23 square kilometers.
The development zone operates under a “one zone, two cities, multiple parks” management system, overseeing two industrial parks: the High-Speed Train Support Industry Park and the Modern Logistics Industrial Park. The High-Speed Train Support Industry Park is home to 263 enterprises and has attracted 90 projects, with a leading industry concentration rate of 68%. The Modern Logistics Industrial Park has 60 projects either already established or in the process of establishing, with a total investment of 36.9 billion yuan.
The Hebei Fengrun Economic Development Zone has successively been awarded more than ten honorary titles, including “National High-Speed Train High-Tech Industrialization Base,” “National Science and Technology-Driven Trade Innovation Base,” “National New Industrialization Demonstration Base,” and “National Prefabricated Building Industry Demonstration Base.” In 2022, it achieved main business revenue of 216 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15%, joining the ranks of development zones with revenue exceeding 200 billion yuan.
