Located west of Anqing’s main urban area, north of the Yangtze River, and on both banks of Shimen Lake, the Anqing High-Tech Zone is Anhui Province’s sole cluster for the strategic emerging industry of new chemical materials and a national-level high-tech industrialization base for new chemical materials. It is also Anhui Province’s largest planned chemical industrial park, comprising two areas—the Fenghuangshan and the Shankou areas—The Fenghuang Zone, covering 9.57 square kilometers, has been largely developed, while the Shankou Zone, spanning 13.71 square kilometers, is currently under development. The park was established in 2006 and was upgraded to a national-level high-tech zone in 2022 with the approval of the State Council.In 2023, it was awarded the honorary title of “Green Chemical Industrial Park” and was recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a national “Green Industrial Park.” In 2024, it successfully became one of the first chemical industrial parks in the province to achieve a lower safety risk rating (Grade D) and has been named one of the top ten most promising national chemical industrial parks four times.At the end of 2018, the High-Tech Zone assumed administrative responsibility for Shankou Township. In June 2023, it took charge of the coordinated development and construction of Anqing’s “Dual-Valley” industrial zone, focusing on building the life sciences and biotechnology industries, thereby launching a “one zone, multiple parks” development model.
Building on Anqing’s advantages in petrochemical resources, the park focuses on developing two leading industries: new chemical materials and biomedicine. By organizing upstream and downstream sectors around the industrial chain, it is dedicated to building five major industrial clusters: the petrochemical industry chain, electronic chemicals and new energy, coatings, specialty chemicals, and biomedicine.With a concentration of leading industries exceeding 90%, it is the chemical industrial park in Anhui Province with the most comprehensive public infrastructure, the largest scale of development, and the highest level of industrial sophistication.
