Established in August 1992, the Hefei Chaohu Economic Development Zone was approved as a provincial-level development zone by the Anhui Provincial Government in August 1995. Located in the northeastern part of Chaohu City, it covers an administrative area of 61 square kilometers with a planned development area of 28 square kilometers. With a current permanent population of over 100,000, it was named one of the “Top Ten Development Zones for Investment Environment” in Anhui Province at the Second Anhui Investment Environment Awards.In 2004, it was approved by the State Council to remain as a large-scale provincial-level development zone; in 2009, it was approved as a provincial-level Taiwan Industrial Park; in April of the same year, it was awarded the honorary title of “Top Ten Development Zones in Anhui Province for Investment Environment (2nd Edition)”; and in August 2011, it was placed under the direct administration of Hefei City, becoming one of Hefei’s four major development zones.It has received numerous honors, including “China’s Hot Spring Hometown,” “Hefei Safe Food Industry Demonstration Base,” “One of China’s First Batch of E-commerce Incubation Bases for Single-Product Manufacturing Enterprises,” “Most Promising Tourism and Resort Destination,” “Anhui Province New Industrialization Demonstration Base,” “10th Anhui Province Civilized Unit,” and “2015 China’s Top 100 Industrial Parks for Growth Potential.” The Tulip Highlands Scenic Area within the zone is a National 4A-level scenic spot.
