The Baohe Economic Development Zone in Hefei, Anhui, was established in May 2002 and was formerly known as the Baohe Industrial Zone;In February 2006, it was approved by the provincial government as a provincial-level development zone, with an approved construction area of 6.18 square kilometers; in February 2015, the provincial government approved its renaming and expansion, increasing the total planned area to 17.05 square kilometers. It currently covers an area of 37.33 square kilometers and has a permanent population of approximately 100,000.Located within the core area of Hefei Binhu Science City and the Lake Chaohu Science and Innovation Corridor, the zone borders 16.8 kilometers of prime lakeshore along Lake Chaohu to the south, adjoins the downtown area to the north, borders Hefei Binhu National Forest Park to the east, and neighbors Luogang Ecological Park to the west. It is situated just 2 kilometers from the provincial administrative center. As Hefei’s most promising strategic hub—a cost-effective base, industrial hub, and emerging development zone—it possesses four distinct advantages:

The Baohe Economic and Technological Development Zone serves as the main battleground for economic development. Centered on the “1+3” industrial system (“1” refers to new energy and intelligent connected vehicles; “3” refers to biomedicine, testing and inspection, and next-generation information technology), the zone seizes opportunities arising from the construction of Hefei Binhu Science City and the integration of the Yangtze River Delta. Committed to high-quality development, it has successively earned over 40 provincial-level and higher honors, including the Fourth Batch of National Science and Technology-Driven Trade Innovation Bases, the National-Level Demonstration Development Zone for Transformation and Upgrading in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and China’s Most Growth-Oriented Industrial Park.

Baohu Economic and Technological Development Zone is a comprehensive transportation hub. It is just a 10-minute drive from Hefei South High-Speed Rail Station, with a cross-shaped high-speed rail network providing direct access to major cities across the country. To the east lies the Hefei Port Comprehensive Terminal; to the west, it connects to the Beijing-Fuzhou and Shanghai-Xi’an Expressways; and multiple subway lines, including Lines 1 and 5, traverse the zone.
