Xinhe County, belonging to Aksu Region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the southwest of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located at the southern foothills of Tianshan Mountain and the northern edge of Tarim Basin, with the geographical coordinates of 80°55′~82°43′ east longitude and 40°45′~41°45′ north latitude. East and Kuqa County across the Weigan River, west of the Yulhuo Mountain as the border with Aksu City, Wensu County, north of the Tianshan Mountain tributary Cholertag Mountain and Baicheng County adjacent to the south and Shaya County, Yingmaili Township, the second pasture borders. Total administrative area of 5820.46 square kilometers.
Xinhe County, because of the Weigan River flows through the county, the water supply is sufficient and named Tokesu County, Uygur language, meaning "abundant water", "water". In order to avoid confusion with Toksun County, the name was changed in 1941 to Xinhe County, a Chinese word meaning permanent peace in Xinjiang.
As of 2021, Xinhe County has six towns, two townships, and one management committee, and at the end of 2020, it had a total population of 225,487,000. There are Uyghur, Han, Hui, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Manchu, Tujia, Uzbek, Zhuang, Siberian, Russian, Dongxiang, Salar, and Korean ethnic groups.
In 2020, Xinhe County will realize GDP of 6,089.09 million yuan, an increase of 7%; social fixed asset investment of 4,631.82 million yuan, an increase of 21.8%; total retail sales of consumer goods of 714.9 million yuan, an increase of 8.7%; per capita disposable income of urban residents of 32,685 yuan, an increase of 1.2%; per capita net income of farmers of 17,757 yuan, an increase of 7.6%.
