Langao County, part of Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, is located in southern Shaanxi, at the northern foot of the Bashan Mountains and on the banks of the Han River, adjacent to Chongqing, and bordering Pingli County, Ziyang County, and Hanbin District of Ankang and Chengkou County of Chongqing, with a total area of 1,956 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Langao County has 12 towns under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Langao County had a resident population of 133,167,000 people.
Langao is in the transition zone of subtropical monsoon climate and the second belt of selenium-rich resources in China, is the ecological function area of Qinba biodiversity and the important water conservation area of the national South-to-North Water Diversion Project, and one of the key forestry counties in Shaanxi, the rich forestry resources breed a large number of mountain specialties, totaling more than 400 varieties, mainly raw lacquer, tea, duchene, black fungus, shiitake mushrooms, fruits, and various kinds of mountain wild vegetables. Langao lacquer was called "Golden Lacquer" in the Ming Dynasty, which is one of the three famous lacquers in the international market. Longan tea is a famous tea in Shaanxi, and "Longan Bixuan" was once listed as one of the eight famous teas in the province as a tribute tea.
In 2022, Langao County will realize a GDP of 6.029 billion yuan, of which 1.167 billion yuan will be added to the primary industry, 2.435 billion yuan will be added to the secondary industry, and 2.427 billion yuan will be added to the tertiary industry.
