Ankang City, prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shaanxi Province, is located in the southeastern part of Shaanxi Province, bordering with Shiyan City of Hubei Province in the east, adjoining Shiyan City of Hubei Province in the southeast, Chongqing City in the south, Chongqing City and Dazhou City of Sichuan Province in the southwest, Hanzhong City in the west, Hanzhong City and Xi'an City in the northwest as neighbors, Xi'an City in the north, and Shangluo City in the northeast, with a regional area of 23,500 square kilometers. Ankang is known as the "Selenium Valley of China" because of the rich selenium content of its soil. In the Stone Age, there were ancestors here. In the summer, it belonged to Liangzhou. During the Spring and Autumn Period, it was divided by Qin, Chu and Ba. During the Warring States period, it was the land of Qin and Chu. In the first year of Taikang of Jin (280), in order to resettle the stragglers around the Bashan Mountain, taking the meaning of "ten thousand years of happiness, peace and prosperity", Ankang County was established. From then on, the name "Ankang" was given. Republic of China twenty-four years (1935), set up in Shaanxi Province, the fifth administrative district administrative inspection area. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was set up as Ankang Sub-district of Shanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, and in 1951, it was changed to Ankang Prefecture, and in 1969, it was changed to Ankang District, and in December 2000, it was set up as Ankang City. With convenient transportation, Ankang City has formed a transportation network consisting of four modes of transportation: highway, railroad, aviation and water transportation.
