Gaojing Town is located in the south gate of Baoshan District, Shanghai, between the middle and outer rings, belonging to the center of Shanghai. Gaojing Town is adjacent to Hongkou, Jing'an and Yangpu districts, and adjacent to Miaohang and Songnan towns, with a town area of 7.1 square kilometers. The town is connected to the east and west by Field Middle Road, Yin Gao (West) Road, Baode Road and 128 Memorial Road, and connected to the north and south by Jiang Yang South Road, Yixian Elevated Road and Gonghexin Road, with more than 20 transit bus routes, and the rail transit lines No. 1 and No. 3, the under-construction line No. 18, and the newly planned No. 19 line crossing the town. As of the end of 2015, the township has a real population of 136,882 people1 with an area of 11.23 square kilometers. There are 31 neighborhood committees under the jurisdiction of Gaojing Township (7 of which are under construction). There are 19 schools in the township, including 11 township-controlled schools (including 2 middle schools, 3 elementary school and 6 kindergartens); 1 township community health center and 6 community health service points; 1 comprehensive cultural activity center and 2 community cultural activity sub-centers; 1 township library; 1 community school and 3 branch schools. During the period of "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", Gaojing Town was awarded the title of the Fourth National Civilized Town, passed the review of National Health Town, and successively won the titles of Shanghai Civilized Town, Shanghai Science Popularization Demonstration Town, Shanghai Community Education Demonstration Town, Shanghai Healthy Community Demonstration Town, Shanghai Food Safety Demonstration Town, Shanghai Safe Community, Shanghai Peaceful Demonstration Community, Shanghai Anti-Cult Demonstration Community, and Shanghai Excellent Community for Anti-Cultism.
