Changtan Township, formerly under the neighboring county of Guang'an City, Sichuan Province, is located in the southeastern part of neighboring county, bordering Fenghe Township and Liangshan Township in the east, Jiulong Township in the south, Longqiao Township in the west, and Yuanshi Township in the north. The area is 19.58 square kilometers, with a household population of 15,922 as of the end of 2018.
At the end of the Qing Daoguang, Fuxing Township was set up. In the Republic of China, the Fuxing Township Regiment Bureau was set up.In April 1953, the name was changed to Changtan Township.In September 1958, the township was changed to a commune.In January 1984, the commune was changed to a township.In December 2019, Changtan Township was abolished, and the administrative area it belonged to was transferred to the jurisdiction of Fenghuo Township.
