Dongxing District, belonging to Neijiang City, Sichuan Province, is located in the south-central Sichuan Basin, located in the middle reaches of the Tuojiang River on the east bank of the city is the focus of the construction of new urban areas in Neijiang City. Dongxing District east of Rongchang District, south of Daan District, Longchang City, looking west of the city center, north of Zizhong County, Anyue County. It has a total area of 1,181 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Dongxing District has 5 streets and 14 towns under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Dongxing District had a total population of 811,500 people. Dongxing District was once known as the "Sweet City" because of its abundant sugar cane production and developed sugar industry; it was also known for the emergence of Gongsun Changzi, a master of calligraphy; Zhang Daqian and Zhang Shanzi, masters of Chinese painting; and Fan Changjiang, a giant of journalism. It is also known as the "Hometown of Painting and Calligraphy" because of the emergence of "the best calligrapher" Gongsun Changzi, national painting master Zhang Daqian, Zhang Shanzi, and "news giant" Fan Changjiang. In 2022, Dongxing District will realize a gross domestic product (GDP) of 24.535 billion yuan, of which 5.375 billion yuan will be added to the primary industry, 4.874 billion yuan to the secondary industry, and 14.286 billion yuan to the tertiary industry. The structure ratio of the three industries is adjusted to 21.9:19.9:58.2.
