Selangor (Malay: NegeriSelangor) is one of the thirteen states of Malaysia, with its capital ShahAlam, located in the central part of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, bordered by Perak in the north, Pahang in the east, Negeri Sembilan in the south, and the Strait of Malacca in the west. It has an area of 8,104 square kilometers, a population of 6,380,800 (2017), and 10 districts.
Malaysia's two federal territories, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, are within Selangor. Selangor and Kuala Lumpur are often referred to together as Selangor.
The most significant economic activities in Selangor are services, manufacturing, and construction, and the state has a concentration of major industrial estates and is home to Port Klang, Malaysia's busiest port.The per capita income in Selangor in 2016 was RM44,616, which is higher than Malaysia's per capita GDP of RM38,887.
Selangor has a tropical rainforest climate with numerous tourist attractions and well-equipped sports facilities, with Sunway Waterpark being one of the largest theme parks in Malaysia.
