Terengganu (Malay: NegeriTerengganu), formerly known as Terengganu, is one of the thirteen states of Malaysia, with BandarKualaTerengganu, the capital, located on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, bordered by the South China Sea to the east, the state of Kelantan to the north and northwest, and the state of Pahang to the south and southwest, and covering an area of 13,052 square kilometers ( 2017), with a population of 1,230,400 (including 35,400 non-citizens, 2018) and eight districts.
