Dachangshan Island Town, belonging to Dalian City, Liaoning Province, Changhai County, is located in the central west of the Changshan Islands, Lichangshan Island in the north, the south and small Changshan Island Town adjacent to the southwest and Guanglu Island Town, the northern part of the sea adjacent to the city of Dalian, Jinzhou District, Pulandian District and Zhuanghe City, constituting a triangular hinterland of the Changshan Archipelago. The total area of the jurisdiction is 40.53 square kilometers.
Qing Daoguang twenty-third year (1843), belongs to the Jinzhou Hall of the island district, that is, Jinzhou sixteen islands. In November, 1945, Dachangshan Township was established and belonged to Changshan District.In December, 1985, Dachangshan Township was merged into Sijiaoshi Township.In March, 1987, Sijiaoshi Township was renamed Dachangshan Island Township.At the end of 2018, Dachangshan Island Township had a household population of 28,366 people. As of June 2020, Dachangshan Island Town has four communities and seven administrative villages under its jurisdiction, with the town's people's government stationed in Dongshan Community.
