Yixing City is a national historical and cultural city. During the Zhou Dynasty, it was called Jingyi, and during the Spring and Autumn Period, it belonged to Wu. Jingyi is said to have gotten its name from Jingxi, which stretches east and west. After the unification of the six kingdoms by Emperor Qin Shi Huang, Jingyi was changed to Yangxian County. According to historical records, the Yin of Jingxi has many mountains, and its Yangxianwo, which means "diffraction" and "envy", was named Yangxian. In the first year of Yongxing of Western Jin Dynasty (304), Yangxian County was changed to Yixing County.
