Rugao City, county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, administered by Nantong City. Located in central Jiangsu Province, the north bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, south and Zhangjiagang City across the river, north and Hai'an City, east and Rudong County connected to the southeast and Nantong City, Tongzhou District, adjacent to the west and Taixing City, southwest of Jingjiang City border, the city's total area of 1,576.47 square kilometers. It has a northern subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons, mild climate and abundant rainfall. As of April 2023, Rugao City has 3 streets and 11 towns under its jurisdiction, with the municipal government stationed in Rucheng Street. As of the end of 2022, Rugao City had a resident population of 1,222,300 people. Rugao has a history of more than 1,600 years, with a documented history of about 2,500 years. on February 6, 1991, Rugao was abolished as a county and established as a city (county-level city). Rugao City is a famous historical and cultural city in Jiangsu Province, Rugao people in ancient times, longevity, centenarians frequently, by the International Society of Natural Medicine as one of the world's six longevity townships.
