Chongzuo City, prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is an important node city of the Pearl River-West River Economic Belt, the Beibu Gulf City Cluster and the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone of Guangxi, located in the southwestern part of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with geographic coordinates between latitudes of 21°36`~23°22` N and longitudes of 106°33`~108°6` E. It is bounded by the city of Nanning and the city of Fangchenggang in the east and southeast, and by Baise City in the north, and by Vietnam in the west. Baise City in the north and Vietnam in the west, it is the longest prefecture-level city in Guangxi with the longest border line by land, covering a total area of 17,300 square kilometers. Chongzuo City is China's most convenient land route to ASEAN, an important node city of the two corridors and one circle of China and Vietnam and the Nanning-Singapore Economic Corridor, and the city with the largest number of border crossings in China. As of 2022, Chongzuo City has one municipal district and five counties under its jurisdiction, with one county-level city in its stead. As of the end of 2022, Chongzuo had a resident population of 2,082,600 people. When Qin Shi Huang unified China, the area under the jurisdiction of present-day Chongzuo City belonged to Xiang County. During the Han Dynasty, it belonged to Xiang County and Yulin County. In Sui Dynasty, it belonged to Ulin County. Tang Dynasty, belongs to the western province of Lingnan. At the end of Song Dynasty, it belonged to Yongzhou. In the Yuan Dynasty, the territory belonged to Taiping Road, Siming Road, Zhen'an Road and Longzhou Wandu Province. In the Ming Dynasty, the territory belonged to Taiping Prefecture, Nanning Prefecture, Siming Prefecture, Sien Prefecture and so on. In the Qing Dynasty, the territory belonged to Taiping Province and Zhen'an Province. In the early years of the Republic of China, the territory belonged to Zhennan Road, etc. On August 6, 2003, Chongzuo City was officially established. Chongzuo City is known as the sugar capital and manganese capital of China, the largest sugarcane planting and sugar production base in China, the hometown of China's white-headed langur, the hometown of China's cottonwood, the national precious tree species cultivation demonstration city, was awarded the national forest city, the national greening model city. There are 28 ethnic groups living in the city, and there are tourist attractions such as the transnational waterfall Detian Falls, the World Cultural Heritage Zuojiang Huashan Rock Painting, the Leaning Tower of Zuojiang which is one of the eight Leaning Towers in the world, the Golden Cockerel Rock in Fusui County, and the Friendship Pass in Pingxiang City. In 2023, Chongzuo City's GDP was 111.756 billion yuan, an increase of 6.2% over the previous year at comparable prices.
