Fangshan District, a municipal district of Beijing, is located in the southwest of the city, neighboring Mentougou District in the north, adjacent to Fengtai District in the northeast, separated by the Yongding River from Daxing District in the east, and bordering Zhuozhou City and Laishui County in Hebei Province in the south and west, respectively. The total area is 2019 square kilometers.In 2022, Fangshan District had a resident population of 1,131,000 people and a household population of 852,000 people. Zhoukoudian Town in the western foothills of Fangshan District has Paleolithic ruins, where the "Peking Man", "Shanding Cave Man" and "Tianyuan Cave Man" lived. The site of Dongjialin in Liulihe Town in the southern part of the city was the earliest capital of the Yan State, which was the site of the Western Zhou Dynasty's Yan Dynasty vassal Shao Gongshi, and was abandoned after the invasion of the Shanrong, and the capital was later moved to the city of Jicheng. 1987 saw the merger of the Yanshan District and the Fangshan County to form the Fangshan District. As of October 2022, Fangshan District has 8 streets, 3 districts, 11 towns, 6 townships, 459 administrative villages, 210 communities, and the district people's government is located at No.1 Zhengtong Road, Gongchen Street. In 2022, the gross regional product of Fangshan District was 86.09 billion yuan, excluding the effect of price factors, an increase of 3.1% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of primary industry is 1.16 billion yuan, down 15.6%; the added value of secondary industry is 35.6 billion yuan, up 3%; the added value of tertiary industry is 49.33 billion yuan, up 3.6%.
