Chizhou City, Anhui Province, prefecture-level city, located in the south of Anhui Province, the south bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the southeast part of the city is part of the southern Anhui mountainous area, the central part of the hill area between the Gangchong, the northwestern part of the river zone for the continental polder area, the terrain is low and flat, rivers and lakes are interlaced; belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate, four seasons, rainfall, mild and humid; a total area of 8,399 square kilometers. As of October 2023, Chizhou City has one district and three counties under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Chizhou had a resident population of 1,328,000 people.
Chizhou was founded in 621 as a prefecture in the fourth year of the Tang Dynasty, and in June 2000, it was established as a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of the province. Chizhou is a city in the center of the Yangtze River Delta, an important riverfront port city in the Yangtze River basin, and the core city of the South Anhui International Tourism and Culture Demonstration Zone. It has 162 kilometers of Yangtze River coastline, with Beijing-Taiwan Expressway, Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway, Jiguang Expressway, De Shang Expressway, Andong Expressway, Dongjiu Expressway, Ning'an High-speed Railway and Tongjiu Railway passing through the city, and Jiuhuashan Airport, a civil aviation airport, and the port of Chiuchow is a hundred-million-ton port, which has been fully integrated into the Yangtze River Delta's 3-hour metropolitan circle and Nanjing and Hefei's 1.5-hour commuting circle. Chizhou is famous for its famous mountains, beautiful water, selenium-rich land and good air, and has the famous Buddhist mountain Jiuhuashan, as well as famous scenic spots such as the national nature reserve Guniujiang and the internationally important wetland Shengjin Lake.
